1st Swap meet at the Spillway

As you probably know the first Time Trial of 2012 is to be held a the Spillway trail at 8am Sunday 26th of February, and now we do have an addition to the Time Trial our very first Swap Meet:

Come join NOMAMBO as we host our 1st SWAP MEET…

BUY * SELL or TRADE… are you sitting on a collection of parts? Do you need a different stem? You want a new (to you) frame or fork? Come out bring your parts or cash and make a deal.. open to everyone..

Swap Meet will be held after the Time Trial.. approx.. 10:00am – 12noon (or whatever time we come up with)

So come out and bargain, haggle, wheel and deal… get some cool stuff.. earn some extra $$$ and hang out with some awesome folks…

2012 Time Trials

New season, new fun, more riding and now we can present the latest update on the Nomambo Time Trials Series…. Be there or LOOSE…. Or be there and looooose… Anyway, we have already seen phenomenal fast times been nailed down in 2012, but nothing recorded officially, so now is the time, the dates are set, the Spillway trail is still there and better than ever…

First meeting of the year is bound to take place coming Wednesday at Rotolo’s Pizza. We’ll meet at 7pm and the agenda will be presented as usual.

2011 is just about over.

2011 is just about over.

As we, NOMAMBO, look back at this year, we have a lot to be thankful for. NOMAMBO could not have done it without YOU, our members.

The NOMAMBO Spillway MTB Trail System saw devastating effects form the opening of the flood locks this year. As soon as it was dry enough to access the trail, our members got in and worked tirelessly to bring the trail back to life. In 2011, a new section of trail was cut “The Hammer” adding new twist and turns to the trail. New berms, including the 8th Wonder, and features were added into S. Canada making this section of trail flow and ride better than any trail in the state.

Thanks to our members and volunteers, our trail hosted many events this year, including the 6th round of the LAXC Race series, the SPILLWAY SCRAMBLE and the 3rd annual RACE of the DEAD. These events, as well as the Time Trail series have made 2011 a huge success for our club.

In 2012, NOMAMBO has more to look forward to as a club. We can not achieve it without you. Please take the time and renew your memberships or join if you have not before. All current memberships expire 12-31-2011. Your membership dues are what fund NOMAMBO. If you believe what the Mayans believed, 2012 may be your last year to join. So don’t miss out. JOIN today!! The Spillway is back in great condition, the trail rolls fast, riders are using it, but that nothing compared to what is coming, RACE OF THE DEAD and SPILLWAY SCRAMBLE… Perhaps the most hard and crazy races in the south or maybe not, you tell us!!! One thing is for sure, you are going to fight in the SWAMP between banana spiders, cotton mouths, alligators and rednecks!!!

2011 Time Trial season is over…

A new season is ready next year. And before next year don’t forget the Race of the Dead and the Spillway Scramble, these are only two events in the great New Orleans area and for those who are game for more, just stay in contact with Nomambo and we’ll make sure to inform you. The Eastbank Mountain Bike Team has 3 more races in Louisiana and if you want more information on that have a look at LAXCseries.

Back to the Time Trial, the last edition took place at our trail at the Bonnet Carré Spillway and the weather was great, we had 18 racers dueling… And a lot of helpers, thanks to you all, especially Tim for the great work you have put in on the Time Trials.

So, who won the last Time Trial?

Girard Melancon did win the first place this time, and we all wonder if it’s gonna be the last time he’ll beat us all…. Probably not… Congrats, you WON a package of BACON to slow you down!

A brief summary of the final score: The winner of 2011 is Cody Dimarco and Tim Kettering they share 1st place, 2nd place is shared between Rhys Kinler and Ryan Lawson and the 3rd place is shared between Toby Cortez and Kris Haug… Just for the record Rhys and Toby did not take part in all Time Trials, so they have been fast and congrats… See results here.
